How precious to me Is the morning light After the lonely dreams Of a faithless night. My dreams to me Seem so real What I think And how I feel. Once again I fall prey To what the old voices Have to say. Pharaoh’s whip Drives me on In the land of bondage He demands a song. My dreams depend On what I hear The things I see That bring me fear. Reject, failure, Face the facts Your true value Depends on your acts. Again I cry out In the dark of my night Father please help me Give me sight. Time and again You break my night With the beauty Of Resurrection Light. Waking I hear you Reminding me Pharaoh lies drowned Beneath the sea. You set me free By the word of truth The scars You bear Give me proof. You were rejected So I could be Loved and accepted For eternity “It Is Finished” Like a banner flies Dismissing the devil With all his lies. You gather me up And draw me near With perfect love You cast out fear. How precious is The darkened way That leads me to The light of day What would rest be Without the fight Or the breaking of day Without the night. No feeble dawn Awaits me there Where in glory and power You appear.
